Motor Repair Shop Program

Do you operate a repair shop in the U.S. or Canada for electric motors and generators used in hazardous locations? If so, give your business a boost by demonstrating that your facility complies with hazardous locations safety standards. CSA International offers independent evaluations that will help you obtain the recognition you need from electrical inspection authorities.

Details about the program appear in Certification Notices 370B and 370C, 370-US "Updated Requirements for CSA Qualification of Facilities Engaged in the Repair of Electrical Motors and Generators for Use in Hazardous Locations." These Notices are available free from CSA International and can be requested by e-mail at hazloc@csa-international.org.

When your facility is qualified, you will receive a "Certificate of Qualification," which you can display on the premises. Each certificate identifies the name and address of the facility, and the type of hazardous locations equipment the facility is qualified to repair. As well, your qualified facility will be able to use the statement "CSA-Qualified Repair Facility" on stationery and in advertising, subject to CSA guidelines.

Once qualified, your facilities will be inspected a minimum of twice a year to monitor ongoing compliance with the requirements.
