CSA SFM Program Documents

Sustainable Forest Management Standard : CAN/CSA-Z809-02 Sustainable Forest Management: Requirements and Guidance - This standard outlines the requirements for a forest manager or owner wishing to implement the public participation, system, and performance requirements for a defined forest area (DFA) to meet Canada's National Standard for Sustainable Forest Management.

Fact Sheet - This document provides an overview of CSA's Sustainable Forest Management Program.

Chain-of-Custody Documents - Chain-of-Custody refers to the tracking of forest products through all phases of ownership, processing and transportation, from the forest of origin to the end consumer.

It is the next voluntary step, once assurance is provided through an independent third-party audit to the CAN/CSA-Z809 SFM Standard, that forests are being managed according to established principles of sustainable forest management.

CSA has chosen PEFC Annex 4, an internationally recognized Chain-of-Custody Standard, for its CSA SFM Program purposes.

PEFC Annex 5, PEFC Logo Use Rules - PEFC Logo Use Rules establish the rules and guidelines governing the use of the PEFC logo.

PEFC GL-1 2006 Logo Use Application - To apply for use of the PEFC logo, complete the application form and forward it to PEFC International to the attention of tech@pefc.org
