Cleveland, OH – July 14, 2008– CSA America, Inc., a leading developer of standards, codes and personnel certification programs, announces a new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fuel System Inspector Certification program designed to meet the needs of fleets of all sizes. This new program offers inspectors the highest level of qualification and expands the scope of the certification to include the inspection of containers, valves, pressure relief devices (including vent system) and other fuel system components of compressed natural gas powered vehicles
In 2006 CSA America, Inc. assumed the administration of the CNG Cylinder Inspector Certification program from CSA International with the goal of strengthening the content, administration, systems and procedures. Since then, CSA America has been working to update and improve the CNG Cylinder Inspector Certification program. The new program will be available as of August 1, 2008 as the CNG Fuel System Inspector Certification program and will follow the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17024 Conformity Assessment standard, the global benchmark for personnel certification programs.
The New CNG Fuel System Inspector Certification will operate on a three-year re-examination cycle. Inspectors certified under the current program will not need to reapply until their current certification expires. As an inspector’s certification expiration date nears, they will receive a letter from CSA America explaining what is needed to fulfill the new certification requirements. Information on the program change, fees and registration for notification updates is available at www.csa-america.org, by calling 216-524-4990 or 216-520-8987, or via e-mail at personnelcertification@csa-america.org.
