CSA International's product testing & certification specialists will provide the knowledge and guidance you need to certify your electrical & electronic products for Mexico.

There are two main national certification bodies for Mexico. ANCE is responsible for electrical equipment and NYCE is responsible for electronic equipment. The NOM (Normas Oficiales Mexicanas) Mark is a mandatory Mexican mark for applicable electrical products, gas appliances, wires and cables and electronic products.

CSA International laboratories can conduct testing to NOM standards so that qualifying products can obtain the required NOM mark from NYSE/ANCE.

Detailed information regarding certification in Mexico

Country	MEXICO
Mandatory certification - Safety	Certification is mandatory. Valid for 1 year. Products' harmonized tariff code is used to determine if mandatory certification is applicable.
Certification body	ANCE is responsible for electrical equipment. NYCE is responsible for electronics equipment.
Safety standards	Mexican NOM Standards - not fully IEC based. AC supply is 127V, 60 Hz. North America power supply, power supply cord set or plug is acceptable.
Mandatory certification mark	NOM Mark with optional certification body logo is required. Labeling must follow Mexican convention.
EMC requirement	No
CSA test report acceptability	CSA test report completed in Spanish and official Mexican certification body test report in NOM format (Informe de Pruebas) is acceptable. CSA regular Certification or CB test report is not acceptable but maybe submitted for supplementary information and reference. Please contact CSA for products other than ITE, Telecommunication and Audio/Video equipment.
User manual in local language	Spanish. Compliance to NOM-024 Commercial Information for Electronics, Electrical and Home Electronics Products is required.
Sample requirement	Yes
Factory inspection requirement / CSA inspection report acceptability	No factory inspection. Only sample testing at market, warehouse or factory in Mexico.
Delivery time at the certification body (based on our experience)	5 to 6 weeks.
